Do You Need to Call Your Insurer First?
Not always. In New Zealand, many glass replacement companies can lodge the claim on your behalf. At West Auckland Windscreens, we deal directly with your insurer — you just need to give us your policy details.
That said, some people prefer to notify their insurer themselves first. Either way works. The important thing is that you have comprehensive insurance with glass cover.
Step 1 — Check Your Cover
Log into your insurance app or dig out your policy document. Look for "glass cover" or "windscreen cover". Most comprehensive policies include it automatically. Note your excess — this is what you'll pay out of pocket, usually $0 to $100 for glass.
Step 2 — Gather Your Details
Have the following ready when you call us:
- Vehicle make, model and year
- Registration number
- Insurance company name
- Policy number (if you have it)
- Description of the damage
Step 3 — Call West Auckland Windscreens
Phone 09 827-2827. We'll confirm your glass type, check availability and advise whether an insurance claim is the best route. If you're not insured, we'll give you a firm private price.
Step 4 — We Handle the Rest
We contact your insurer, submit the claim, source the correct glass and book a time to come to you. After fitting, we invoice the insurer directly. You usually only pay your excess.
Which Insurers Can We Deal With?
We work with all major NZ insurers including AA, State, AMI, Vero, FMG, Tower and more. If your insurer isn't on this list, call us anyway — we can almost certainly help.
Your actual price may vary depending on your policy excess, vehicle type and any additional work like ADAS recalibration. We'll give you a clear breakdown before we start.
What If You're Not Insured?
No problem. We do private jobs every day. You'll get a firm, fair price upfront with no hidden costs. Most standard windscreens cost between $250–$500. Call us for an exact price on your vehicle.
